It was a good solid days walking away from the Brae Wood and through the river valley with Eldran at its head. I stopped only briefly for lunch and to consider what I needed to do when I arrived at Eldran.

As I sat looking towards the city, I wondered what I would find. I feel like I am collecting questions every way I turn at the moment, I hope, in Eldran I will start to find answers.
It was well into the evening when I arrived at the city.

As I approached the outskirts I began to feel a sort of apprehension, this is only the second time I have visited a city and this time I don’t know what to expect. The first time I was here was at the very start of my Cord-Wrights training, but this time it feels different. The city is still striking, and the people are still going about their business seemingly happily, but something feels different under the surface. There seems to be less laughter in the air and there is an unexpected element of uniformity to the signs and Skein entry points. I can’t tell if it is because I am older and here for different reasons or if there is something unsettling about the city itself.

As I walked along the riverside I started thinking about the River Rangers in Bern and what they were saying about the increased traffic along certain routes. Maybe here I will be able to get some more information about that to pass back to them. As it seems like I have a lot to do while I am here I have found a comfortable, simple room in an inn to use as a base. It is down by the river and I can hear the sounds of the city floating up through the window.
I hope I can sleep, as tomorrow I need to start looking for answers.
